Letters to the Editor

NOT Actual Image of Author

 LawisFun folks:
You don't understand - I've got great stories.  They're funny, interesting and would make great discussion material.  But the minute I put it down on paper somewhere, someone will recognize it and there will be HELL TO PAY!  I'll get phone calls, I'll get emails, I'll get looks when I go to court.  I'll be the one who broke the code and actually told a tale IN WRITING that can, somehow, be linked back to me.

I like the site, but I don't want to get dis-barred just because I tried to make someone laugh!

Dear Concerned:

1) Attorneys tell stories all the time.  In restaurants, malls, crowded elevators, phone conversations and over the internet.  While we have had the occasional faux pas "Hey, that's my SISTER you're talking about!" for the most part people laugh and move on.  If this were not the case, how could we have so many best selling authors who have penned book after book based on their tales.

As a matter of fact, isn't there now an entire cable network dedicated to the 74 spin-offs of Law and Order.  EVERY EPISODE based on a real case.  Think about it.  You're resistent to writing about the odd client who you ran into in the hallway, while Law and Order hauls real cases out and broadcasts them internationally and all they do is change the names to protect the innocent or some such.

2) While we understand the resistence to attorneys putting things in writing because it is permanent, we also offer an anonymous forum and your own innate ability to alter the facts or the situations enough to make them all but unrecognizable.  Take advantage of that to vent about your most recent run in with the "bull dog" attorney that drives you crazy.

3) We are national - not regional.  You might be suprised how many times what has happened to you has happened to other attorneys and that is NOT the basis of a class action!

So go ahead, write away.  We're looking forward to you making us laugh!!
