Random thoughts on this (finally) cold November

A Texas A&M anthropologist has rediscovered a pygmy tarsier in the wilds of Lore Lindu National Park, Sulawesi. "The pygmy tarsiers, furry Furby/gremlin-looking creatures about the size of a small mouse and weighing less than 2 ounces, have not been observed since they were last collected for a museum in 1921. Several scientists believed they were extinct until two Indonesian scientists trapping rats in the highlands of Sulawesi accidentally trapped and killed a pygmy tarsier in 2000."

I don't know what is more disturbing to me - that there might be real Furby's or that there might be real Mogwi's (gremlins for the less technical folks).  I think I would take my chances with the Gremlins.

Speaking of 80's movies...

It came to my attention recently that Peter Weller (star of so many classics, including Buckaroo Banzai and RoboCop) is a college professor now who does occasional appearances in films.  I haven't researched to find out where he is because there would be just too much temptation to take a leave of absence from work to go and take one of his classes.

My daughter started going to Brownie's lately.  They got rid of the beanies, but kept the vest and the patches are iron-on's now. Tonight was nice but odd because I ran into two mother's who I taught with once upon a time about 10 years ago.  We caught up, which was the nice part, but my daughter was glaring at me every once in a while as if to say "Hey, this is MY meeting - take it outside!"  Six is SUCH a cute age!
